Purity of Empathy

while surrounded by endless horizon,
a man and fruit experience dehydration.

they are in a state of desperation,
unaware they share their situation;

when the man is confronted with a realization,
his canteen is empty, and, life is nearing completion.

then, on the desert floor he spies the apple core;
withering while it dries, he greets it where it lies,

and cries;

contemplating their condition, he grieves
for the seed's fruitless essence, and their
grave existence in this desolate residence.

must be serendipity, but by
communicating the courtesy,

of empathy,

he gave the greatest gift one can bestow.
his tears helped a seed grow, and undergo
a transformation into a tree, rooting firmly
into the ground, and, fruiting their destiny.
